Dear friends and family,

It’s hard for me to believe that I’m in my last semester of college, my time at James Madison University has been incredible and I’m so sad to be leaving the Blue Ridge mountains this spring. In the past four years I have learned so much about myself, experienced the Lord in powerful ways, and have found a community of friends I will treasure forever. The Lord has been so kind to me and has used my time at JMU to prepare me to become the woman I was created to be. I believe I was created and am called to be a missionary, and I’m so excited to announce that I will be beginning this journey in August with the World Race!

The World Race is a program through Adventures in Missions that sends young adults on an 11-month, 11-country mission trip. My team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities around the world with the goal of bringing the Gospel and Jesus’ love to the world. Our ministry will consist of preaching, planting churches, working in orphanages, ministering to women and children trapped in human trafficking, and bringing the hope of the Father’s love to many people and nations. For me and my team specifically, our mission field will be the Global South and we will be traveling to countries in South America, Africa, and South Asia.

I have felt the call to mirror my Savior’s service and sacrifice to bring light and love to all the Lord’s people, but I can’t do this on my own. Just as the Apostles and missionaries throughout the ages have done, I need to gather partners in this Kingdom work to support me. The greatest support I could ever receive is prayer. In the past few years I’ve learned about how sweet time spent talking to God is and how much He loves hearing from us. I firmly believe that our prayers are heard and are powerful. Please consider partnering with me on my race by committing to praying over me, my safety, my team, and all the people I will encounter.

In addition to prayer support, I am looking for financial partners. I need to raise $18,700 by November 2021 to cover the cost of all transportation, food, housing, insurance, and other miscellaneous costs. Would you consider supporting me during my journey? I am currently looking specifically for partners to donate $50-150 monthly until November. Would you pray over this donation? I understand fully that this past year has been a hard one and that finances may be tight, all I ask is you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this way or any way you are capable.

If you are interested in partnering with me in prayer or financially here is some further information for you:

During my trip I will be using this blog so that my partners can remain updated on the work I am doing. You can subscribe to this blog to get emails whenever I post. If you are interested in financially supporting me you can make donations through my blog or by check. On my blog page go to the Donate tab to give online. If you prefer to donate via check please contact me and I will give you all the information needed to do so. All donations will be tax deductible!

My last request is that you consider sharing my journey with those around you that may be interested in my journey and in partnering with me. I’m so excited for this journey, and with a humble heart that I ask you to join me in furthering the Kingdom of God.

With love,

Sarah-Katherine Smith

  1. Scripture makes it clear we are to pray continually. We pray for God’s protection over you today and always, and have no doubts all your needs will be met through His Devine Grace.

  2. I’m excited for you and the calling God has laid on your life. What a great way to start your journey by going on the World Race! You’ll experience a taste of so many different mission organizations and get to see how they do things. You’ll learn both what works well and what doesn’t go well in the process. Also, you’ll get to see what types of ministry you’re truly passionate about – maybe a surprise and maybe a confirmation of where God wants to place you!
